JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE : LEGAL OFFICER
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
ACCOUNTABLE TO : LEGAL DEPARTMENT
REPORTS TO : NATIONAL HEAD
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for providing legal support and guidance to ensure the company's operations, policies, and transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations. The role involves drafting and reviewing contracts, managing legal risks, handling disputes, and providing advice on labor, corporate, and regulatory matters. The Legal Officer also represents the company in legal proceedings and coordinates with external counsel when necessary, ensuring the protection of the company's rights and interests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- LEGAL ADVICE
a. Service as the primary legal business partner for the company assigned to him/her, providing the
b. necessary operational and strategic support, as well as give advice in connection with local laws and regulations.
c. Render legal advice and opinions
d. Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company and its subsidiaries and affiliates
e. Serve as the lead/expert in his/her area of expertise within the Legal Group, providing support to other team members when needed.
2. CONTRACT REVIEW AND DRAFTING
a. Review and draft contracts, agreements, letters, and other legal documents, ensuring that these are in accordance with company's business goals and comply with pertinent rules, regulations, and laws to protect its interests and minimize its risk or exposure
b. Provide advice on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different transactions on matters related to or connected with the business of the corporation
3. CASE MANAGEMENT
a. Protect the Company's interest by defending it against claims from third parties or enforcing its rights with third parties
b. Identifies risks of taking or not taking legal action; provides advice on the advantages and
disadvantages.
c. Engage external counsel, if needed, and coordinate with external counsel for the handling and management of cases.
4. CORPORATE HOUSEKEEPING
a. Be responsible for the corporate compliance and reportorial requirements with the relevant
government authorities of the company assigned to him/her
b. Provide in-house notarial services.
5. CAPACITY BUILDING
a. Provide internal training on legal topics
b. Work with and support other functions within and outside the group legal team, including external counsel, advisors, and non-legal support teams
6. OTHER DUTIES
a. Perform other duties that may be required y the company and its subsidiaries and affiliates from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bar Passer
- Notarial Commission is a plus but not required
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years' experience as a Lawyer in a corporate setting preferably with strong background on
contract drafting, corporate compliance and business letter writing.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge in drafting, negotiating and reviewing legal documents.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
- Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional
organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Php30, Php70,000.00 per month
