ROLE PURPOSE:

Supervise and act as Head of the Chemical Laboratory. Conducts Physical, Chemical and Radiological Analysis and Quality Control to ensure compliance of Laguna Water's to DENR AO , DOH PNSDW 2017, ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and other regulatory bodies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the development, review and updating of policy guidelines.
  • Provide technical leadership in developing and maintaining standard procedures in Physical, Chemical, and Radiological.
  • Analyzes the samples from all assigned sampling points, signs the water analysis results, updates water quality monitoring records, evaluates results and recommends solutions for improved operation.

  • Ensures that the PNP License for Regulated Chemicals are renewed every year.
  • Ensures Monthly Consumption of PNP Regulated Chemicals acquired by the laboratory are timely submitted.
  • Ensures that the PRC License of Chemists and Chemical Technicians are renewed before expiration.
  • Reports Incidents within 24 hours to PNRI.
  • Prepares documents needed for renewal of PNRI Radioactive Material License.
  • Prepares documents needed for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accreditation Program, participates and excels in Proficiency Tests.
  • Participates on Water Quality Investigation and recommends effective solution for improved solutions.
  • Assists and Monitors maintenance program.
  • Schedules and performs in-house verification and calibration.
  • Ensures that the inventory supplies are sufficient. Monitors the chemical inventory list.
  • Prepares Budget Requirements for Physical, Chemical and Radiological consumables.
  • Monitor chemicals by having chemical register list and update it periodically.
  • Maintains material safety data sheet of chemicals and update it periodically.
  • Ensures that appropriate emergency management provisions are available in the event of a chemical emergency such as spill kits, eye wash, fire extinguishers, PPE.
  • Identifies and inspects chemicals and material with hazardous substance and ensures that these are properly labeled and stored.
  • Ensures proper disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Practices safety in all aspects of laboratory work, uses PPE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Chemist
  • Preferably with at least three years' experience in the theory and practice of water and used water analysis
  • Knowledge in Radiological Procedures and Safety Requirements
  • Preferably with a valid driver's license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
