Civil/ Infrastructure Estimator

Job Overview: One of our Australian clients is seeking for a Civil/infrastructure Estimator to join their team as a dedicated in-house estimator. This is a key role responsible for managing all estimating activities, including tender preparation, cost analysis, and bid submissions for a wide range of civil construction projects.

The successful candidate must be proficient in using Pronamics Expert Estimation and AgTek (for cut/fill and head maps) and will have proven experience delivering accurate, timely, and competitive estimates.

The client's projects typically involve:

• Site clearing and grubbing
• Detailed and bulk earthworks
• Roads, kerbing, and drainage works

To submit approximately 20 tenders per month, with project values ranging between $500,000 and $2M.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tendering & Bid Preparation

2. Review and analyze tender documentation, drawings, and specifications

3. Identify project scope, risks, and opportunities in contract documents
4. Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil works (earthworks, drainage, utilities, structures, roads, kerbing)

5. Submit tenders in line with client requirements and deadlines

6. Quantity Take-Offs & Cost Analysis

7. Perform detailed quantity take-offs using digital take-off software (Pronamics Estimation expert & AgTek)

8. Develop and maintain unit rates for labor, plant, and materials
9. Benchmark costs using historical data, subcontractor quotes, and market pricing

10. Assess indirect costs including preliminaries, overheads, and risk allowances

11. Collaboration & Reporting

12. Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive quotes

13. Provide clear, itemized Bills of Quantities
14. Prepare clarification lists to address discrepancies and mitigate risks
15. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and directors to ensure alignment of estimates with project delivery

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Civil Estimator in the construction industry (minimum 5+ years preferred)
• Strong proficiency with Pronamics Expert Estimation and AgTek software is required
• Solid understanding of civil construction methods, including earthworks, drainage, and roadworks
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
