WHY WE NEED YOU:
The Junior System Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, focusing on Windows and Linux operating systems. This role involves assisting with the administration, troubleshooting, and optimization of system environments to ensure reliable and efficient IT operations. The Junior System Administrator will work closely with senior IT staff to implement and support IT solutions and services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers and workstations.
- Monitor system performance and availability, and respond to system alerts and issues.
Perform routine system updates, patches, and upgrades to maintain system security and stability.
Provide technical support to end-users for system-related issues, including operating systems, applications, and hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems on Windows and Linux systems.
Document and track support requests and solutions using IT service management tools.
Help manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Windows and Linux environments.
- Assist with the configuration and management of system backups, including verification and restoration procedures.
Support the implementation of system security policies, including antivirus and firewall configurations.
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Prepare and present reports on system performance, incidents, and ongoing projects as required.
Assist in the deployment and integration of new systems and technologies.
- Support IT projects and initiatives, including system migrations, upgrades, and installations.
Perform routine system health checks and preventive maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with senior IT staff and other team members to address complex technical issues and projects.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Windows and Linux systems.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in system administration or a related IT support role.
SKILLS:
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including system administration and troubleshooting.
- Basic scripting skills and automation tools.
- Familiarity with common IT infrastructure components such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file systems.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VPNs).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper V).
- Basic knowledge with Cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
