Job Summary

Northern Fitness is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics & Purchasing Assistant to support purchasing and inbound logistics operations. This role will assist in purchase order preparation, supplier and logistics coordination, and daily data management. Success in this position will be measured by accuracy, timeliness, and effective communication with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination:

  • Assist in preparing and issuing purchase orders based on demand forecasts.
  • Confirm supplier pricing, availability, and lead times.
  • Collect and verify order/shipping documentation (invoices, packing lists, customs paperwork).
  • Track purchase order status and follow up on discrepancies.

Logistics Support:

  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and suppliers to arrange inbound shipments.
  • Maintain up-to-date shipment tracking and share timely updates with internal teams.
  • Assist in resolving logistics issues (delays, errors, customs clearance).
  • Support evaluation of inbound freight costs as % of purchase value.

Systems & Data Management:

  • Enter and validate purchasing data in ERP/WMS systems.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records and shipment timelines.
  • Support configuration and upkeep of demand forecasting tools (Netstock).

Analysis & Reporting:

  • Compile purchasing and logistics data for reporting.
  • Assist in tracking supplier performance, stockout incidents, and inbound freight costs.

General Administrative Support:

  • Maintain organized filing systems for purchasing and logistics documentation.
  • Handle day-to-day email communication with suppliers and logistics partners.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and tasks assigned by the Purchasing Lead.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of purchasing, logistics, or supply chain experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; ERP/WMS experience an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
