Warehouse Operations Section Officer generally involves supervising daily warehouse activities, managing inventory, ensuring safety and efficiency, and coordinating the receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods. This role often bridges the gap between floor-level workers and senior management. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Coordination: Supervise and coordinate the daily tasks of the warehouse team, including assigning workloads and monitoring performance to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee all inventory control activities, including regular physical counts and cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies in the system, and ensuring accurate records are maintained in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Receiving and Dispatching: Manage the efficient receipt, inspection, proper storage, picking, packing, and timely dispatch of all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring all documentation is accurate.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce health and safety standards, procedures, and legal regulations (e.g., OSHA standards), ensuring a safe and clean work environment. This includes regular inspection and maintenance of warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement process changes to enhance productivity, cost-effectiveness, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit regular reports and statistics on warehouse activities, inventory status, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Warehouse Manager or Operations Manager.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Liaise with other departments (e.g., procurement, sales), customers, suppliers, and transport companies to ensure seamless operations and resolve issues.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for new and existing warehouse staff to build their skills and knowledge.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics supervisory role is typically required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with warehouse management software (WMS), databases, and MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Leadership: Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
