JOB SUMMARY

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of books and other printed materials. The role demands a keen understanding of supply chain management, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced environment with deadlines tied to publishing schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in the publishing or book distribution industry is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems, logistics, and warehouse best practices.
  • Working knowledge of publishing cycles and the importance of aligning warehouse operations with production and editorial schedules.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with different departments and external vendors.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations in warehousing.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage and coordinate the daily operations of the warehouse, including inbound and outbound logistics of books, and other print materials.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts, spot checks, and reconciliations with inventory management systems.
  • Maintain safe and efficient handling and storage of all published materials.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate warehouse staff to meet daily operational goals.
  • Schedule shifts and assign tasks to warehouse employees to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Train new staff on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and handling of publishing materials.
  • Monitor stock levels of books and related materials, working closely with the inventory team to manage supply levels and avoid overstocking or shortages.
  • Assist in managing returns, damages, and distribution of surplus or remaindered stock.
  • Collaborate with the sales, and production teams to ensure timely fulfillment of orders and address any issues related to stock availability or delays in shipments.
  • Work closely with the content and production team to align warehouse operations with the release schedules of promotional events.
  • Oversee the packaging and shipment of books, ensuring that orders are processed on time and delivered according to client requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, including stock management and picking/packing workflows.
  • Enforce adherence to safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Implement lean warehousing techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
