Key Responsibilities - Design Development: ​ - Creating schematic designs and detailed drawings. ​ - Using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software. ​ - Considering sustainable design principles. ​ - Client Consultation: ​ - Meeting with clients to understand their needs and goals. ​ - Presenting design proposals and modifications. ​ - Managing client expectations throughout the project. ​ - Technical Expertise: ​ - Ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations. ​ - Selecting appropriate materials and construction methods. ​ - Addressing technical challenges that arise during construction. ​ - Project Management: ​ - Coordinating with contractors, engineers, and other professionals. ​ - Overseeing construction progress to ensure adherence to plans. ​ - Managing project budgets and timelines. Skills Required - Technical Skills: ​ - Proficiency in CAD, BIM, and other design software. ​ - Knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and accessibility standards. ​ - Understanding of structural systems, electrical systems, and HVAC. ​ - Creative Skills: ​ - Artistic vision and design flair. ​ - Ability to visualize spaces and create innovative solutions. ​ - Strong graphic communication skills. ​ - Soft Skills: ​ - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ​ - Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. ​ - Effective leadership and teamwork skills. Educational and Licensing Requirements - Education: ​ - A professional degree in architecture (Bachelor's or Master's). ​ - Licensing: ​ - Completion of an internship (typically three years). ​ - Passing the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). ​ - Registration with a state or national board of architecture.
