Manager – Business Valuation Services

The Manager will oversee a wide range of assignments, including business and business interest valuations, purchase price allocations, impairment testing, intellectual property valuations, complex financial instruments, stock options, and dispute consulting. The Manager will play a key leadership role in growing the Business Valuation Services Practice (the "Practice") and will ensure the delivery of high-quality, technically sound, and objective valuation analyses across the Northeast Region. This role will also involve direct client engagement, team management, and collaboration with senior firm leadership to drive practice excellence and business growth.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee multiple valuation engagements, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
- Manage and mentor valuation professionals, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Engage with client executive teams to understand business operations, strategy, and financial performance.
- Perform and review in-depth industry, market, and competitor research on a wide range of public and private companies.
- Oversee the design and review of complex financial models, including discounted cash flow, guideline company, intangible asset, and option pricing analyses.
- Review and ensure the quality and accuracy of valuation reports and documentation supporting conclusions, market research, and strategic recommendations.
- Present valuation results and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with firm standards, technical guidance, and quality control requirements.
- Stay current with evolving valuation methodologies, accounting standards, and industry trends.
- Take an active role in practice development initiatives, including business development, client relationship management, and recruitment of new team members.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in business valuation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Proven experience managing valuation projects related to transactions, financial reporting (e.g., purchase price allocations, impairment testing, equity-based compensation, complex securities), ESOPs, or estate & gift planning.
- Deep technical expertise in valuation modeling, including DCF, comparable company, intangible asset, and option pricing models.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex valuation concepts clearly and effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with databases such as Capital IQ and Bloomberg.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire a team of valuation professionals.
