What Makes This Role Exciting
Our fast-growing team is looking for a passionate and experienced Team Lead, Learning Design to join our Learning Centre. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep instructional design expertise with a desire to lead and grow others. You'll work closely with our facilitators and cross-functional stakeholders, while guiding a team of Learning Designers to deliver engaging, effective, and high-impact learning experiences for our internal and external audiences.
As Team Leader, you'll own the design roadmap, mentor others in best practice, and drive a culture of innovation in digital learning. You will also play a key role in aligning learning solutions to business strategy and performance outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
Learning Design
- Lead the design and delivery of engaging and interactive learning solutions, including eLearning, vILT, blended learning, videos, and microlearning.
- Champion evidence-based instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles across the team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex concepts into clear, learner-centric content.
- Identify learning needs and recommend appropriate strategies through needs analysis, learner personas, and performance mapping.
- Leverage emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the impact of learning solutions.
Team Leadership & Coaching
- Provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to Learning Designers, ensuring high-quality output and consistent design standards.
- Lead project scoping, resource allocation, and prioritisation to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Foster a culture of creativity, continuous improvement, and user empathy within the team.
- Support the onboarding and development of new team members; promote skills growth through feedback, mentoring, and peer reviews.
- Act as a quality assurance gatekeeper, reviewing and signing off on design work.
Collaboration & Impact
- Partner with facilitators, HR, product, and customer-facing teams to ensure learning aligns with business priorities.
- Monitor and report on learning effectiveness, using feedback and performance data to iterate on design.
- Own the design toolkit and guidelines, ensuring consistency across formats, brands, and channels.
- Contribute to strategic learning initiatives and enterprise-wide development programs.
Experience Needed For This Role
- Proven experience as a Senior Learning Designer or similar, with a strong portfolio of diverse learning solutions.
- Demonstratable experience of leading and inspiring others, ideally within a learning or creative function.
- Experience leading projects or mentoring others in a design context.
- Advanced skills in instructional design tools such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and virtual facilitation tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence and present to non-learning audiences.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and project management capabilities.
- Passion for innovation, learner experience, and team growth.
