Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Power BI Developer.
We are seeking a certified Microsoft Fabric Developer to migrate our Power BI environment into a scalable, cloud-optimized Fabric architecture. The role involves designing, configuring, and implementing Fabric solutions with expertise in semantic modeling, data refresh orchestration, and governance. You will also guide our team on best practices and deliver training to ensure long-term sustainability and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Migration & Modernization
  • Migrate existing Power BI Desktop models into Microsoft Fabric semantic models.
  • Replace the current personal gateway with cloud-native Fabric solutions.
  • Configure incremental refreshes for SQL and Excel data sources.
  • Data & Integration
  • Centralize common data across semantic models to reduce duplication.
  • Ensure seamless Excel integration via OneDrive/SharePoint for accounting workflows.
  • Optimize SQL and Excel connections for reliable refresh and performance.
  • Architecture & Governance
  • Provide guidance on Microsoft licensing (Premium Per User vs. Fabric capacity).
  • Establish best practices for semantic modeling, refresh orchestration, and governance.
  • Create documentation of the solution for technical and non-technical users.
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer
  • Deliver training sessions to ensure the team can troubleshoot, update, and maintain the new environment.
  • Support business and IT stakeholders with guidance on future scalability.

Must Have Hands-On Experience with:

  • Microsoft Fabric & Power BI Expertise
  • Proven experience migrating Power BI Desktop models into Fabric / Power BI Service.
  • Hands-on expertise in semantic modeling and Fabric capacity management.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI Premium features and large dataset handling.
  • Data Source Integration:
  • Advanced skills in SQL (query optimization, incremental refresh configuration).
  • Proficiency in integrating Excel, OneDrive, and SharePoint into Power BI/Fabric.
  • Architecture & Governance:
  • Experience implementing cloud-native refresh solutions and replacing personal gateways.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and licensing models.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Ability to document solutions clearly for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and end-users.
