We're looking for an experienced Fire Protection Engineer with solid experience in the Australian fire industry. This is a contractor-side role, covering everything from design to commissioning, for someone confident working independently and delivering fully compliant systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic design: Assess site water supply and pressure to determine system requirements.
  • System design: Develop fire sprinkler and hydrant layouts in Revit, from IFA to IFC and As-Built stages.
  • Documentation: Prepare fabrication drawings, pipe lists, and material schedules.
  • Compliance: Apply Australian Standards (NCC, AS 2118, AS 2419) across all designs and documentation.
  • Coordination: Work closely with project managers and site teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Commissioning support: Review test results, prepare documentation, and assist during system handover.
  • Project ownership: Manage your designs through construction, testing, and client sign-off.

What You'll Need

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the Australian fire protection industry.
  • Strong Revit skills for fire systems design and documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian Standards, Building Codes, and DFES requirements.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously on contractor-side projects.
  • Practical understanding of site work, fabrication, and commissioning processes.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience using hydraulic calculation software (e.g. Hyena).
  • Understanding of coordination with other building services (mechanical, electrical, structural).
  • Strong problem-solving approach to water supply or site constraints.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and improve design processes.

This is a hands-on role, not consultancy-based. You must have proven local experience and be confident managing projects from concept through to commissioning.
