About the Role
The Finance Manager will oversee the organisation's day-to-day finance, administrative/operational, and compliance functions, playing a key role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and financial integrity.
You'll work closely with the Finance & Internal Operations Director to keep operations running smoothly across multiple jurisdictions and support an agile, mission-driven team that values diligence, trust, and proactive problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting
- Manage and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Oversee all general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare and manage documentation required for external audits and tax filings.
Operational Finance (A/R & A/P)
- Manage the full invoicing cycle, including tracking client payments and proactively driving Accounts Receivable (A/R) collections.
- Process and manage all vendor invoices, payments, and expense reports (Accounts Payable – A/P).
- Ensure compliance with client payment terms and actively manage related cash flow timing to maintain liquidity.
Compliance & Payroll Oversight
- Supervise the external payroll process to ensure accuracy and timely payments across jurisdictions.
- Liaise with external accounting and legal advisors to ensure adherence to local statutory requirements.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify and document opportunities for
process automation and operational efficiency
within finance workflows. - Drive
automation projects
to eliminate manual data entry and reconciliation tasks (e.g. automated bank reconciliations). - Contribute to refining policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Support the Finance & Internal Operations Director with day-to-day admin tasks, documentation, and vendor management.
- Coordinate subscriptions, contracts, and procurement to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Prepare reports and summaries for leadership and board meetings as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 5–8+ years of experience in finance, audit, or accounting roles, ideally within a tech or service-based company.
- Proven expertise in operational accounting (A/R, A/P, GL reconciliation).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and experience with modern ERP/accounting tools (e.g. Xero).
- Demonstrated diligence, reliability, and a strong sense of integrity when handling sensitive financial data.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive and ambitious, with a "challenge mindset" — eager to question existing processes and propose better ways of working.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international start-up environment with significant overlap in European time zones.
