Overview

Summary

We are currently helping our client, a key player in the Shipping/Maritime Transportation domain to fill a Lead Buyer position.

In this role, the Lead Buyer will be responsible in supervising a team of Buyers/Senior Buyers and provide daily support to the team, including, coordination of quotations, cost comparisons and liaising with suppliers.

What you bring:

  • Degree holder of any 4 years course with minimum 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience in procurement, preferably shipping industry.
  • With strong English speaking and written skills
  • Experience in the ship management industry as Buyer or Senior Buyer is desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications and PARIS
  • Supervisory skills and ability to lead a team
  • Strong team player with a positive working attitude

What you'll do:

Technical responsibilities

  • Overall responsible for procurement needs of the assigned pod vessels
  • Responsible for collecting and documenting all technical information from the Pod vessels, workshops, and vendors
  • Follow up on advance payments, make necessary entries in the cost book and liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, vessels agents and the vessel for speedy dispatch in coordination with Technical Superintendent
  • Plan for documents to be delivered on or off vessels
  • Documents housekeeping as per company requirements
  • Assist Buyers (if required) with coordination of quotations, processing of quotations and cost comparisons
  • Responsible for collecting and documenting all technical information from the Pod vessels, workshops, and vendors

Supervisory and people management responsibilities

  • Be a change agent to implement new procedures and processes under SOP's
  • Training the Buyers/Senior Buyers in PARIS and Office 365 as required
  • Responsible for the team of Buyers and the coordination between them
  • Ad hoc duties or projects as assigned by Superior
