Job Summary

We are looking for a highly qualified SESA Deputy Team Lead / Environmental Expert to support Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) initiatives in major transportation projects, including railways, airports, and urban or regional transport systems. The successful candidate will assist the Team Lead in coordinating environmental assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing technical guidance to project teams, ensuring sustainable and environmentally responsible project implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Team Lead in planning, organizing, and coordinating SESA activities for transportation projects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior environmental specialists and project staff.
  • Conduct environmental assessments, audits, and baseline studies specific to railways, airports, and transport infrastructure.
  • Review project designs to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability.
  • Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and mitigation measures for transportation projects.
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultations, public participation, and engagement in transport-related projects.
  • Monitor environmental compliance on-site and prepare progress reports for transport authorities and project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance on environmental risks, mitigation, and sustainability measures for transportation projects.

Requirements

  • University degree in Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 8 years in environmental assessment or management.
  • Proven experience in railway, airport, or urban/regional transport projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of national and international environmental standards and regulations.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Leadership, coordination, and project management skills.
