Blackfish is seeking a highly creative and driven Bar Manager to lead our craft cocktail bar program and operations. This is a pivotal leadership role for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in bar management, a passion for mixology, and a talent for building and inspiring a team.

Key Responsibilities

The Bar Manager will own the end-to-end bar operations, from concept to execution. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with management on seasonal cocktail development, menu engineering, and development of a high-level spirits program
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and schedule all bar staff (bartenders, barbacks). Foster a culture of excellence, speed, and hospitality.
  • Manage daily bar operations, including inventory control (liquor, beer, wine,  etc.), ordering, stock rotation, and par-level management.
  • Ensure an exceptional and consistent guest experience at the bar, resolving service issues promptly and elevating our reputation for craft and service.
  • Control bar-related costs, including pour cost, inventory shrinkage, and labor. Assist in budgeting and contribute to achieving beverage revenue targets.
  • Implement and maintain strict standards for recipe adherence, presentation, cleanliness, and bar setup to ensure every drink is perfect.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with liquor distributors, brewers, and other suppliers; negotiate pricing and secure unique products.
  • Develop and lead in-store activations such as cocktail masterclasses, guest shifts, and promotional events to drive traffic and engagement.
  • Ensure the bar operates in full compliance with all health, safety, and liquor licensing regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years experience in bar or beverage operations, preferably in a cocktail-focused or premium service environment
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a Bar Manager role in a high-volume, craft cocktail-focused or premium service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, mixology, bar systems, inventory management, and cost control
  • Proven leadership and staff management skills
  • Professional demeanor with excellent guest engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to implement SOPs consistently
  • Proficiency in POS systems and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
