Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves processing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements and reports, and supporting payroll and tax functions. The Staff Accountant will manage accounts payable and receivable, conduct bank reconciliations, and support internal and external audits by maintaining well-documented records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Process journal entries and reconcile accounts regularly.
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare and send customer invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances. o Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances in Yardi Breeze , Xero and
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for management as required.
  • Reconcile bank statements with internal accounting records to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate discrepancies and report findings to the Director of Finance.
  • Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages.
  • Calculate and file payroll taxes and other statutory obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure all financial records are accurately maintained for audit purposes.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and management of accounting records in the system.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • With at least 3-5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Proficiency with the use of accounting systems like Yardi Breeze; Xero; is/are required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work during US office hours (Mountain Time Zone)
