Designing, developing, and maintaining automated systems and processes, which includes writing code, creating test scripts, and troubleshooting issues. This role requires strong technical leadership, project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Responsibilities also include collaborating with cross-functional teams, working with both software and hardware, and ensuring systems comply with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and development: Design, develop, and implement automated systems, which may include hardware and software components, and write automated test scripts.
  • Technical leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and lead technical teams.
  • Project management: Manage automation projects from conception to completion, including planning, budgeting, and vendor management.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance: Identify and resolve system defects, troubleshoot issues, and maintain automated processes.
  • Collaboration: Work with other departments like operations, engineering, and quality assurance to meet project goals and quality standards.
  • System lifecycle support: Assist with the full system lifecycle, including factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and validation protocols.
  • Required skills and qualifications
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field like Computer Science is typically required.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in engineering and process automation is necessary, often including experience with PLCs and SCADA systems.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in programming, scripting, and automation frameworks is essential. Knowledge of networks, databases, and DevOps methodologies is also beneficial.
  • Soft skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills are critical for success in this senior role.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field like Computer Science is typically required.
