Medical Assistant – Specialized Healthcare | Remote | Full-Time | HIPAA Environment

Role Name: Medical Assistant

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm with one hour of unpaid break

Job Description: You'll be the vital connection helping breast cancer survivors access the care they need and deserve. This role combines healthcare expertise with compassionate patient care, where your outreach directly impacts patient engagement and quality of life. You'll work with advanced healthcare technology while building meaningful relationships with patients during their recovery journey, making calls that truly matter and scheduling appointments that restore confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Make outbound calls to patients using medical charts and patient history for personalized outreach
  • Schedule appointments and close calls with confirmed bookings to maximize patient engagement
  • Answer incoming calls with exceptional warmth and professionalism
  • Confirm appointments and remind patients of required documents and preparation steps
  • Follow up on prescriptions and check in on patient experiences and satisfaction
  • Respond promptly to voicemails and email inquiries with empathy and accuracy
  • Book and manage both virtual and in-person fittings using scheduling systems
  • Reschedule appointments as needed while maintaining patient satisfaction
  • Ensure patients have all relevant information prior to their fitting appointments
  • Maintain fitter calendars across multiple expanding facilities and locations

Requirements: 
You bring familiarity with healthcare and insurance settings, with strong preference for experience in medical environments.
Emotional intelligence and excellent bedside manner are essential for this sensitive patient population.
You communicate with warmth and professionalism over the phone, handling patient concerns with empathy.
You're comfortable learning scheduling systems, CRM platforms, and EMR-style workflows quickly.
HIPAA compliance knowledge and training capability required.
Strong English communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive patient information are must-haves.
Bonus if you have experience with BrightTree software, familiarity with women's health issues, or previous experience supporting breast cancer patients or survivors.
