Clinical Responsibilities

  • Patient Preparation: Showing patients to examination rooms, taking and recording vital signs (like temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate), and gathering basic medical history.
  • Assisting Providers: Helping doctors during physical exams and minor surgical procedures, discussing treatment plans, and distributing medication.
  • Diagnostic and Treatment Support: Performing basic lab tests, drawing blood, assisting with EKGs, administering injections, and preparing equipment for treatments.
  • Wound Care: Removing stitches and changing wound dressings as directed by a provider.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Record Management: Entering information into electronic medical records (EMRs), updating patient files, and organizing medical records for review.
  • Scheduling: Scheduling patient appointments, managing the office calendar, and arranging for lab services or hospital admissions.
  • Communication: Answering phones, directing calls, and preparing correspondence and forms.
  • Office Operations: Maintaining supplies, cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments, and keeping the office environment organized.
