Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper/Accountant with experience supporting Australian businesses. The role involves managing day-to-day financial processes, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, and providing high-quality client support. You will be responsible for accounts payable/receivable, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, payroll processing, and compliance reporting. The ideal candidate will have at least 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience with Australian firms and be proficient in cloud-based accounting systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Handle payroll processing in line with Australian requirements.
  • Prepare and lodge activity statements (BAS/IAS).
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records by identifying and requesting missing information.
  • Respond promptly to client queries and provide assistance as needed.
  • Record work hours and maintain documentation accurately.
  • Collaborate with team members using task and workflow management systems.

Systems & Tools Used:

  • Accounting Platforms: Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks
  • Supporting Tools: Hubdoc/Dext, ApprovalMax, Deputy/Tanda
  • Other Tools: Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, Microsoft Teams

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with Australian bookkeeping/accounting firms.
  • Solid understanding of Australian financial processes and compliance requirements.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial records.
  • Ability to manage recurring tasks (daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly).
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently to deadlines.
  • Customer service–oriented with a professional attitude in dealing with clients and stakeholders.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in multi-client bookkeeping environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
