District Sales Manager – Pharmaceutical Industry

Shape the future of healthcare while leading a high-performing sales team.

We are seeking a results-driven District Sales Manager to oversee and accelerate sales performance within an assigned territory. This leadership role is critical in driving strategic sales execution, building strong customer partnerships, and inspiring a team of Professional Medical Representatives to deliver exceptional results.


Key Responsibilities

Lead Strategic Sales Execution and Drive Business Planning

  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to guide district sales strategies.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Plan, organize, and control district-level business activities, including sales, marketing programs, routing, and account coverage.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless execution of territory and district plans.
  • Conduct regular reviews and adapt strategies to evolving market conditions.

Manage District Performance and Accelerate Sales Growth

  • Ensure achievement of district sales targets by guiding and supporting Professional Medical Representatives (PMRs).
  • Monitor doctor and account coverage aligned with segmentation strategies.
  • Initiate and oversee sales activities, product promotions, CMEs, and group initiatives.
  • Conduct performance reviews using SMIS, trackers, and business reports.
  • Resolve distribution, inventory, and market-related challenges to ensure product availability.

Build and Strengthen Customer Partnerships

  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Key Decision Makers (KDMs).
  • Support PMRs in customer engagement to enhance market presence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely product availability.
  • Respond proactively to customer needs while maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Inspire, Develop, and Lead High-Performing Teams

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop qualified PMRs.
  • Set clear KPIs, monitor performance, and implement improvement plans where necessary.
  • Conduct joint field visits to coach and enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and foster a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Support career aspirations of team members through Individual Development Plans and succession planning.

Ensure Budget Management and Asset Stewardship

  • Manage district sales and marketing budgets effectively.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of expenses.
  • Safeguard company assets and enforce accountability for proper use of resources.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with strong academic background.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a Sales Leadership role (Supervisory or Managerial) within the pharmaceutical or consumer sales industry.
  • 4–6 years of experience as a Professional Medical Representative.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sales processes, market dynamics, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and inspire teams to exceed performance goals.
