Job Overview

The Project Monitoring and Evaluation Officer under the Chemical Permitting Unit will assist in the full screening and evaluation of all applications for chemical related permits. This covers Chemical Control Order Registration, Importation Clearance for CCO substances and Small Quantity Importation Clearance for new chemicals. The role ensures that requirements are complete and compliant with regulations and that proper documentation is maintained for smooth processing.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Licensed Chemical Engineer or Licensed Sanitary Engineer or any engineering graduate or any bachelor's degree relevant to the job.
  • Licensed engineer is preferred for the job.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of chemical management regulations
  • Attention to detail for reviewing documents
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills for technical evaluation
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Experience

Experience in regulatory work or chemical management is an advantage but not required.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluation and Screening Functions

  • Assist in screening and evaluating one hundred percent of applications received for chemical permits which include:
  • Chemical Control Order Registration
  • Importation Clearance for CCO substances
  • Small Quantity Importation Clearance for new chemicals
  • Check completeness and accuracy of submissions and coordinate with applicants when clarification is needed.

Administrative and Other Duties

  • Maintain records and logs of processed applications.
  • Prepare summaries and basic documentation for evaluated applications.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
