Job Summary:

The Operations Supervisor at Daniellah's Junkshop is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, including managing staff, supervising sorting and weighing of materials, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and ensuring efficient customer service. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to managing inventory and workflow.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily junkshop operations, including receiving, sorting, weighing, and storage of scrap materials.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of workers, ensuring all tasks are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor material prices and ensure accurate payments to sellers based on weight and type.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within the junkshop premises.
  • Keep records of incoming and outgoing materials, and assist with basic inventory tracking.
  • Ensure accurate use and maintenance of weighing scales and other equipment.
  • Enforce company rules and safety policies; report issues or incidents to the owner promptly.
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and support a positive reputation for the business.
  • Assist with purchasing and selling of scrap to bulk buyers or recyclers.
  • Train new workers on proper sorting techniques, safety, and operational procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a junkshop, recycling facility, or similar environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of scrap materials (e.g., metals, plastics, electronics, etc.).
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks (lifting, sorting, etc.) and work in outdoor/shop conditions.
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Basic math skills for weighing and payment calculations.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):
  • Experience using a weighing scale or basic point-of-sale system.
  • Familiarity with scrap pricing trends.
  • Ability to drive (if transport of materials is part of the role).

Working Conditions:
  • Work is mostly onsite at the junkshop and may involve standing, lifting, and working in varying weather conditions.
