Senior Accountant (Canada Time Zone – Financial Reporting Focus)

Work Setup: Remote

Schedule: Canada Time Zone (EST/MST/PST depending on client)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant with strong expertise in financial reporting and a good understanding of internal controls. The role involves preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements, supporting audit requirements, and ensuring that accounting entries and reporting processes adhere to control standards. This position suits someone with an audit/assurance background who is comfortable working independently while collaborating with international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Consolidate financial reports and ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper disclosure.
  • Perform variance analysis and prepare supporting notes and schedules.
  • Review and validate account reconciliations tied to financial reports.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and working papers.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during interim and year-end fieldwork.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls related to the reporting cycle.
  • Identify control deficiencies and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, reporting timelines, and documentation standards.
  • Support management with ad hoc financial reporting needs.
  • Perform other accounting or reporting-related tasks as may be required by the client.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum of 8 years of working experience
  • Extensive IFRS knowledge and financial reporting experience
  • With SAP experience
  • Big 4 background is a strong plus
  • With Audit or assurance experience
  • Experience with internal controls and documentation of accounting processes
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in Canada time zone
  • Proficiency with MS Excel's advanced functions
  • Experienced in leading a team
  • Already held a managerial position
