PASTRY CHEF
Area of Assignment: Capitol Branch
You will be responsible for the preparation, creation, and presentation of a wide range of pastry and dessert items for both the restaurant and bakery operations. This role involves overseeing the daily production of pastries, baked goods, and plated desserts while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and creativity. The Pastry Chef also collaborates with the kitchen and service teams to ensure consistency in flavor, appearance, and portioning across all food service areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PRODUCTION AND PREPARATION
- Prepares and bakes a variety of pastry items including cakes, breads, tarts, cookies, and specialty desserts.
- Creates high-quality plated desserts for restaurant service, tailored to menu themes and customer preferences.
- Develops and follow standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality and portion control.
- Plans and manages daily mise en place (preparation) for bakery and dessert items.
MENU DEVELOPMENT & INNOVATION
- Assists in creating new pastry and dessert offerings based on seasonal ingredients, trends, and customer feedback.
- Proposes creative ideas for special events, holiday menus, and promotional items.
- Conducts product trials and tastings as required by management.
INVENTORY AND COST CONTROL
- Monitors inventory levels of pastry ingredients, tools, and packaging materials.
- Assists in ordering supplies and ensure proper storage and labeling of products.
- Minimizes wastage through efficient production planning and use of leftovers or trimmings.
QUALITY, SAFETY, and CLEANLINESS
- Ensures all pastry products meet established quality standards before serving or display.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in the pastry preparation area at all times.
- Complies with food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., proper storage temperatures, allergen labeling).

QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or a related course.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role in a restaurant or bakery setting.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking equipment, and ingredient properties.
- Creativity in dessert presentation and flavor development.
- Ability to manage time effectively and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
