Training Plan: Internship in Asphalt QA/QC Laboratory

Course Description

The internship in Asphalt QA/QC Laboratory requires students to:

  1. Familiarize the workplace inside the QA/QC Laboratory and Asphalt Plant.

  2. Practice safety as first and foremost priority in the workplace, considering it as of

equal importance to any business objectives.

  1. Perform and experience the overall functions of the QA/QC :

a. work with the QA /QC Analyst to update the QMS procedure and

documentation

b. equipment and lab supplies inventory management

c. assist in laboratory recording and documentations

d. assist in preparing and test asphalt samples in accordance with SOPs

e. observe the current processes and laboratory procedures and be able to

identify ways to improve (e.g. save time, reduce cost without sacrificing

product quality)

f. assist the quality control staff in analyzing and resolving laboratory related

issues

g. give suggestions to improve the existing data analysis and reports and

communication materials

Objectives of the Course

The goal of the internship in Asphalt Operations is to provide students with practical

experience in an Asphalt QA/QC laboratory. This will enable students to apply their

knowledge gained in school to the actual work situations. Additionally, the objectives are:

  1. Start the student's industrial awareness and experience.

  2. Give students the opportunity to work in industry, experiencing both field and office

work.

  1. Enable students to obtain an insider's perspective of the structure and operation of a

complex organization in the area of professional interest.

  1. Enable students to develop competencies in work involving asphalt storage &

handling operations.
