Key Responsibilities

Planning Applications:

  • Prepare, lodge, and manage development applications (DAs), planning permits, rezoning proposals, and subdivision applications in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Compliance & Legislation:
  • Ensure all planning work complies with relevant state and territory planning laws, local environmental plans (LEPs), planning schemes, and council guidelines.

Strategic Planning:

  • Assist in preparing structure plans, masterplans, and strategic policy documents for urban and regional development projects.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Conduct online consultations, liaise with councils, state agencies, developers, architects, and community groups to address concerns and provide professional advice.

Research & Analysis:

  • Undertake site analysis, demographic research, and planning policy reviews to inform development proposals and reports.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare professional planning reports, environmental impact statements, and submissions, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

Remote Collaboration:

  • Use digital platforms (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, GIS software) to coordinate effectively with team members and clients.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in town planning within Australia, ideally with both local government and private sector exposure.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of Australian planning frameworks, environmental legislation, and development assessment processes.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and planning software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
