
Project Supervisor – Primary Equipment

Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Execution
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of substation primary equipment (power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, current & voltage transformers, surge arresters, busbars, etc.).
- Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure proper workmanship and quality.
Quality & Compliance
- Conduct inspections, witness tests, and verify results against standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NGCP Grid Code, or local codes).
- Ensure proper calibration and functionality of equipment before energization.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for quality assurance, test reports, and handover packages.
Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce strict compliance with site HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) rules and safe work practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks during installation and testing activities.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure all personnel follow safety procedures.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, testing agencies, and client representatives.
- Resolve technical/site issues and escalate critical matters to the Project Manager.
- Prepare daily/weekly site progress reports and highlight risks, delays, or non-conformities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Licensed Electrical Engineer (REE/PEE)
- Minimum 5–8 years' experience in substation projects with direct involvement in primary equipment installation and testing.
- Strong technical knowledge of HV/MV equipment (transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, CTs/VTs, surge arresters, etc.).
- Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and utility/grid operator standards.
- Experience in reviewing test results (e.g., insulation resistance, contact resistance, winding resistance, ratio tests, SF6 gas tests, etc.).
- Strong supervision, leadership, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work at project sites and travel as required.
Key Competencies
- Strong technical supervision and troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on understanding of substation construction and testing practices.
- Knowledge of safety standards and risk management.
- Ability to lead site teams and coordinate multiple contractors.
- Documentation and reporting skills.
