Reporting Relationship : Business Development Director
SUMMARY
The Business Development Officer will closely work with the Business Development Manager in grant acquisition and development as well as realization of the resource mobilization strategy to support ChildFund Philippines' country strategic plan. S/he will provide technical and administrative assistance in all aspects of business development efforts including proposal development, donor relationship management, and donor prospecting (identifying, qualifying, segmenting, and tracking). S/he will also assist the Business Development Manager in the conceptualization of local fundraising campaigns and/or activities to raise resources for ChildFund Philippines' various programs.
As a child-focused organization, the position is expected to remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks and acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with ChildFund's Child Safeguarding Policy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Local Fundraising
- Support in the development and implementation of the country's local fundraising strategy and resource development plan.
- Work in close coordination with the Business Development Manager and technical/program teams to ensure that the CO pre-positions itself successfully on relevant funding opportunities from corporates, individuals, and grant-giving organizations/agencies in the Philippines.
- Assist the Business Development Manager in identifying and analyzing opportunities in-country and scope potential partnerships to complement the CO's program portfolio.
- As needed, work with the Administrative Officer (Special Project) to produce documents and/or reports required in obtaining various permissions and registration from SEC, BIR, DSWD, and PCNC.
Proposal Development
- As member of the Business Development Team, lead and/or support in writing proposals from concept note stage to full proposal stage, in close coordination with the CO's technical/program and finance teams.
- Ensure business processes are in place to ensure quality proposal development in compliance with donor requirements and ChildFund's Business Development Policy, Procedures, and Practices.
Donor Management and Retention
- Maintain proactive, coordinated, and strategic engagement with potential and existing donors.
- Identify key stakeholders and networks relevant to local funding opportunities for effective prepositioning.
- Support the Business Development Manager in creating, maintaining, and sustaining strategic partnerships with civil society, corporates/businesses, I/NGOs, UN, and government entities, as appropriate.
- Ensure business development documentation and materials are up to date and ready for sharing with potential and existing donors.
- In close coordination with the technical/program and finance teams, ensure timely submission of quality donor reports.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 4 years' experience in business development and grants proposal writing and management, preferably in an international development organization.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor relationship management in the local and/or international setting.
- Demonstrated experience in acquiring grants/awards envelope of USD 50,000.00 to 100,000.00.
- Excellent presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint).
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships.
- Ability to work in a flexible arrangement, independently, and with minimal supervision.
- Organized, detail-oriented, team player, self-starter, and results-oriented individual.
- English fluency.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in any related field.
- Experience in fundraising, investor relations, marketing or closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience would be considered.
- Master's degree in business management, marketing, social development, or any related field is an asset.
