Job Summary:

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Accounting Department by performing daily accounting and finance functions, including bookkeeping, taxation, and handling of receivables and payables. The position ensures that financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly documented, and compliant with company policies and government regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records through proper bookkeeping procedures.
  • Prepare and record journal entries, vouchers, and other accounting documents.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and other BIR-related requirements.
  • Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely processing and accurate recording.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and other financial records.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, clients, and internal departments regarding billing and payment concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or any related field.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in taxation, bookkeeping, receivables, and payables.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine taxation and general accounting principles.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Taxation and compliance (BIR filing, VAT, withholding tax, etc.)
  • Bookkeeping and financial record-keeping
  • Accounts receivable and payable management
  • Bank reconciliation and general ledger maintenance
  • Familiarity with accounting systems/software
