Accounting Payroll Specialist (Office-Based)

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Payroll Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of payroll, maintaining employee records, and supporting accounting operations. This position requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of payroll systems, and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process payroll accurately and on schedule (bi-weekly or monthly).
  • Verify timekeeping records, deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related information.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies regarding compensation, taxes, and reporting.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, journal entries, and general ledger postings.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll files and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
  • Coordinate with HR and Accounting departments for payroll adjustments, benefits, and employee changes.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with audits, financial reporting, and other accounting tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll preparation and accounting functions.
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll processes, statutory deductions, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with payroll or accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or SAP).
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work on-site (office-based) and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
