BASIC FUNCTION

Provides timely and cost effective sourcing and procurement of specialized commodities to ensure continuous flow of operations for the production of high quality products.

Manufacturing industry procurement experience is required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Sources, evaluates, recommends and develops suppliers and alternative suppliers to ensure timely and continuous delivery of required materials.
  2. Essential experience in supplier evaluation and development is required.
  3. Prepares transaction documents (Purchase Order) for the ordering of packaging and raw materials based on the written request and projection of the planning department.
  4. Experience with ERP systems is required for transaction processing.
  5. Updates self on the current economic and social events that affects purchase pricing.
  6. Conducts persistent follow-up to ensure timely delivery of suppliers based on agreed schedule .
  7. Provides proper written coordination with warehouse department regarding the delivery of materials.
  8. Checks and ensures correctness in billing against requested materials for accurate payment processing of the Accounting department.
  9. Evaluates the products, services and capabilities of a supplier through research and interview on the product lines, prices, product sources, and other relevant purchasing information on the suppliers to ensure reliability and integrity of suppliers.
  10. Organizes, updates and retains suppliers' information files and purchase order records for future reviews and reference.
  11. Evaluates price increases or changes in suppliers' contracts prior to bid or renewal of contract; provide immediate feedback and recommendations to superior to ensure cost effectiveness in procuring required materials.
  12. Provides technical assistance and coaching to buyers to ensure effective service to internal customers.
  13. Performs special duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  14. A minimum of 3-5 years of procurement experience is required.
  15. A Bachelor's degree is required for this position.
