Fixed Assets Management Analyst

The Fixed Assets Management Analyst is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the company's fixed asset records, particularly tower sites, power equipment, and network infrastructure. The role ensures that all asset transactions—including acquisitions, transfers, capitalizations, and disposals—are recorded in accordance with accounting standards, company capitalization policy, and lease accounting guidelines. The analyst also coordinates closely with Operations, Engineering, and Site Acquisition teams to track assets throughout their lifecycle and support management in optimizing capital deployment and asset utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fixed Assets Accounting and Reporting
· Maintain and update the fixed asset register for all telecom tower sites, power systems (gensets, batteries, rectifiers), and related infrastructure, as well as Right of Use Assets under IFRS/PFRS 16
· Record asset additions, transfers, and disposals accurately and timely in the ERP system.
· Review CIP balances and ensure timely capitalization of completed sites and equipment.
· Compute monthly depreciation and ensure consistency with asset lives and accounting policies.
· Prepare fixed asset rollforward schedules and reconcile sub-ledger balances with the general ledger.
· Support preparation of management reports on asset values, depreciation, and capital expenditure trends.
- Asset Monitoring and Verification
· Coordinate with Operations, Network Planning, and Project teams to validate completed tower builds and upgrades prior to capitalization.
· Monitor ongoing site enhancement, collocation, and energy efficiency projects for proper classification as capex or opex.
· Support periodic asset tagging and physical verification of tower and power assets, including resolution of variances.
· Maintain database alignment between accounting records, asset management systems, and site-level inventories.
- Cost Monitoring & Analysis
· Set-up standard or budgeted Project / Tower Capex in the ERP system
· Monitor actual capex vs standard or budgeted capex and provide variance analysis reports
· Work closely with FP&A/Budget department to continuously update cost data used for various financial models
- Compliance and Audit Support
· Ensure compliance with PFRS and company capitalization and impairment policies.
· Assist in implementing controls over asset recognition, valuation, and disposal.
· Prepare schedules and provide documentation for internal, external, and regulatory audits
· Coordinate with Finance Manager on capital goods input VAT and property tax compliance related to tower assets.
- Process Improvement and Analysis
· Identify opportunities to streamline the fixed asset accounting process and enhance accuracy through automation or system enhancements (ERP or asset management tools).
· Support development of asset lifecycle management dashboards and reports for decision-making.
· Participate in periodic policy reviews to ensure alignment with evolving industry and accounting standards.
· Provide analytical insights on asset utilization, impairment risks, and return on invested capital.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
· At least 2–4 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or financial reporting, preferably in the telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
· Familiarity with tower asset structures, power systems, and lease accounting (IFRS 16 / PFRS 16) is an advantage.
· Experience in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics) and asset management modules preferred.
Skills:
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and fixed asset management processes.
· Proficient in Excel and financial systems.
· Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
· Effective communication and coordination skills across finance, technical, and operations teams.
· Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
· Accuracy and timeliness of asset capitalization and depreciation.
· Completion rate of monthly fixed asset reconciliation with zero material variance.
· Timely capitalization of completed tower sites and energy projects.
· Compliance with audit and internal control requirements.
· Reduction in asset data discrepancies between finance and operations systems.
· Process improvement or automation initiatives implemented.
