The Lead Tax Coordinator/Analyst will be responsible for tracking worldwide tax activities for all entities across the firm, coordinating with tax consultants and internal accounting team to complete tasks related to tax filings and payments. This role needs someone who has organizational skills, is detail-oriented, proactively looks ahead of schedule, has a sense of urgency and can meet deadlines. This individual will be coordinating with different parties across all entities, gathering and providing supporting backups to tax consultants. As a Lead Tax Coordinator/Analyst, the individual will also be doing tax research online on tax reporting requirements, registering tax-related accounts for new locations where work is performed. The Lead Tax Coordinator/Analyst reports directly to the CFO and works under limited supervision.

This role is for an independent contractor and offers a remote work arrangement with an hourly pay rate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Tax Tasks Tracker is updated with information regarding tax return filing deadline, tax return submission, payment made, and add any new tax locations and their accounts.
  • Coordinate with US tax preparer team to ensure US tax returns and payments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with international tax preparer team to ensure foreign tax returns and payments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide tax supporting backups to external tax preparers by gathering preliminary financials, depreciation/amortization schedules, revenue by location, etc. from the Accounting team.
  • For non-income tax reporting, prepare calculations, file and submit payments.
  • Coordinate with Compliance to check on business registrations
  • Coordinate with HR to check that annual report filings are submitted in accordance with the Tax Tracker schedule.
  • Register new US state accounts for payroll unemployment insurance and withholding.
  • Monitor the progress of engagements and communicate updates with senior management to resolve problems before they arise.
  • Participate in meetings and report status on Tax Task Tracker.
  • Prepares special projects at requests of supervisor.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax relevant professional experience
  • CPA designation is preferred
  • US and international tax knowledge and experience are desirable
  • English written and spoken required
  • Good research skills are desirable
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team yet function well with independent responsibilities.
