Position Overview:
The Patient Accounts Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the billing, collections, and patient account management processes. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented mindset to address patient inquiries, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review daily reports of pending patient statements for accuracy.
- Communicate directly with front office staff to resolve discrepancies
- Answer incoming patient calls through a designated extension line.
- Review and listen to voicemails on the ext. line.
- Return patient calls within 24 hours excluding weekends.
- Document all communications with patients in the NextGen billing system.
- May be trained on accepting credit card payments (in the future) Refer patients' complex issues to Collector or ROPS manager.
Job Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, BSN
- Proficient in the English Language both written and verbal
- Minimum of one-year experience in medical billing, and patient responsibility; deductibles, co-insurance amounts, and self-pay patients
- Empathetic and patient with incoming patient calls/questions.
- Represent the client by providing timely feedback and customer service.
