Job Overview

A leading organization seeks a highly skilled professional to oversee the administration of DB2 z/OS databases.

Your Role

This role involves owning and optimizing all activities related to database administration, implementing complex data models and designs, advising application development teams on correct data manipulation techniques, and driving changes across development, QA, and production environments while monitoring database and system performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex or non-routine data models and database designs and data access and table maintenance.
  • Resolve complex database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues.
  • Consult with application development teams and advise them on the correct usage of appropriate data manipulation techniques.
  • Monitor and review the work of other database administrators to ensure adherence to best practices and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to IT team members with issues requiring expertise in complex systems and/or database knowledge.
Required Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant years of experience in database administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain databases.
  • Thorough knowledge of underlying DB2 database management system products and tools.
  • Knowledge of disk storage mechanisms is preferred.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is helpful.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
