Job Summary:

  • As a Home Loan Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in delivering fair, accurate, and timely loan decisions.
  • Collaborate with talented professionals and leverage advanced tools to drive exceptional customer experiences.
  • Ensure responsible lending and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze and underwrite residential mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with lending criteria and risk management standards.
  2. Apply comprehensive knowledge of mortgage servicing processes and credit guidelines to loan decisions.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless processing.
  4. Review and validate financial documentation, including income, assets, and credit reports.
  5. Identify and resolve documentation deficiencies, communicating findings clearly and professionally.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit policy changes and regulatory requirements.
  7. Uphold fair lending practices and ensure equitable treatment of all clients.
  8. Mentor and support team members through second reviews, group discussions, and training opportunities.
  9. Prioritize workflows to optimize operational efficiency and meet deadlines.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in U.S. residential mortgage processing or underwriting.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise underwriting conditions and decisions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and federal mortgage regulations.
  • Experience with Conventional Agency and Non-Agency loan amounts.
  • Proficiency in tax return and balance sheet analysis, cash flow assessment, and self-employment income evaluation.
