Network Engineer Role

The Senior Network Engineer's role is to provide operational support for the global network environment.

  • Provide support to project managers based on requirements to integrate a network setup.

  • Provide solutions to complex problems with well-planned documentation.

  • Complete preventative maintenance activities such as code updates and equipment upgrades.

  • Manage incident management, problem management, change management, and capacity management.

  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.

  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support.

  • Ensure security and audit compliance.

  • Operate moves, adds, changes, and deletes (MACD) in an operational context.

  • Adhere to operational standards.

  • Comply with engineering design standards and established operational processes.

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of operational documentation, including updating engineering documentation changes due to operational changes, escalation procedures, and vendor contracts.

  • Perform root cause analysis for network events.

Technical Skills:

  • Networking technologies: DNS, DHCP, VPN, network security, IP routing protocols.

  • Cisco networking technologies: routing and switching, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).

  • Cisco wireless.

  • Meraki wireless.

  • Palo Alto firewalls.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five years' extensive experience in supporting Cisco networking technologies.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Practical technical knowledge on Cisco networking technologies.

  • ITIL V3.0 or V4.0 preferred.

  • Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite, and friendly manner, both written and verbal, to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced working environment.

  • High-level technology problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to stand and sit for sustained periods of time.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, engineering communications, or equivalent experience.

  • CCNA/CCNP certifications required.

Work Location/Work Schedule/Travel:

  • Mostly work-from-home (RTO as needed).
