Medical Virtual Assistant (VA) Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Virtual Assistant to offer comprehensive administrative support to healthcare professionals, medical practices, or organizations within the medical sector. These specialized virtual assistants possess a deep understanding of medical terminology, healthcare protocols, and the unique requirements of healthcare providers.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including efficiently managing medical records, coordinating appointment schedules, overseeing billing and insurance claims, transcribing medical documents accurately, and delivering high-quality administrative support to medical practitioners.

By leveraging the expertise of Medical VAs, healthcare providers can streamline administrative workflows, enabling them to prioritize patient care and focus on their clinical responsibilities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently manage medical records, ensuring accurate and timely storage and retrieval.
  • Coordinate appointment schedules, ensuring seamless communication with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee billing and insurance claims, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maximizing reimbursement.
  • Transcribe medical documents accurately, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Deliver high-quality administrative support to medical practitioners, enhancing their ability to provide exceptional patient care.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCP coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and billing compliance.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential.
  • Experience with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
