The role of a Senior Accountant involves overseeing the work of junior accountants, ensuring that financial statements and accounting deliverables are accurate and meet high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and reviewing the work of junior accountants to ensure compliance with UK accounting standards.
  • Preparing and submitting UK corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and P11Ds in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supervising and reviewing UK payroll processes to ensure adherence to HMRC regulations.
  • Assisting in preparing statutory accounts for UK limited companies, adhering to UK accounting standards.
  • Guiding junior bookkeepers, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Liaising with clients regarding financial reports, tax matters, and compliance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a UK accounting firm, with a strong understanding of UK accounting standards and best practices.
  • Proven ability to review and oversee the work of junior accountants, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK corporate tax, VAT, P11Ds, and statutory accounts up until submission.
  • Extensive experience managing UK payroll and HMRC compliance.
  • Leadership and team delegation skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring accounting teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero and other UK accounting software.
  • High level of accuracy, problem-solving ability, and analytical thinking.
