Software Engineer Job Opportunity

This role offers a chance to work on Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering all layers of the stack. As a Software Engineer, you will troubleshoot and drive issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes to be released upstream.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Resolving complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software
  • Maintaining close working relationships with Field, Support, and product engineering teams
  • Participating in upstream communities to develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
  • Reviewing code produced by other engineers and demonstrating good judgment in technical methods and techniques
  • Prioritizing work and managing time effectively against priorities and participating in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
  • Maintaining clear, technical, and concise communications and willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science, STEM, or similar fields
  • Background in Linux and open source software with experience in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
  • Drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues and passion for troubleshooting and fixing issues in technology used by millions worldwide
