OT Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced OT platform engineer to join our team. This is a mid-senior level position that involves designing and implementing secure and reliable IT systems for the natural resources industry.

About the Role:
  • Implement and maintain OpenShift clusters in on-prem production environments, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Design secure tunneling solutions for deployment instructions between network levels, guaranteeing data confidentiality and integrity.
  • Establish air gap transfer strategies for code and artifacts, safeguarding against unauthorized access and tampering.
  • Implement Humanitec with ArgoCD for GitOps-style deployments, adhering to appropriate on-prem networking constraints.
  • Create staging environments that accurately mirror production on-prem systems in AWS, facilitating efficient testing and validation.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement defense-in-depth strategies, enhancing overall system resilience and security.
  • Develop robust change management processes for on-prem deployments, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
  • Design backup and disaster recovery strategies appropriate for each Purdue Model level, guaranteeing business continuity and uptime.
Requirements:
  • Must-have skills and experience:
  • Strong background in air-gapped and segmented network architectures, ensuring secure and isolated system environments.
  • Experience with secure artifact management (JFrog Artifactory preferred), guaranteeing the integrity and authenticity of software components.
  • Understanding of on-prem limitations (disconnected, latency, bandwidth constraints), enabling effective planning and optimization of IT systems.
  • Experience with manual deployment processes and change control, ensuring smooth transitions and minimizing downtime.
  • Familiarity with vSphere and on-premises virtualization, allowing for efficient resource utilization and scalability.
  • Desirable skills and experience:
  • Understanding of the Purdue Model and ISA-95 standards, facilitating alignment with industry best practices and regulations.
  • Experience with mining or heavy industry operational environments, providing valuable insights into specific requirements and challenges.
  • Experience with industrial control systems and SCADA environments, enabling expertise in critical infrastructure management.
  • Knowledge of redundant system design for high availability, ensuring maximum uptime and minimized downtime.
  • Understanding of industrial protocols (OPC, Modbus, etc.), facilitating communication and integration with various system components.
  • Experience with staging/production environment separation in OT, ensuring clear boundaries and preventing contamination.
  • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity frameworks (IEC 62443), providing a comprehensive understanding of security standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of OT-specific security requirements and compliance standards, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Container Platforms: OpenShift (On-prem) and EKS (AWS).
  • Infrastructure: On-premises VMware vSphere, Docker Swarm.
  • Source Control: GitHub with secure synchronization.
  • Monitoring: Industrial-grade observability tools.
  • Security: Air gap solutions, secure tunneling, RBAC.
