Key Account Manager Position

The Key Account Manager plays a pivotal role in cultivating and expanding relationships with strategically vital large customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with key personnel in assigned markets.
  • Promotes and sells company products and services to existing and prospective customers through a relationship-driven approach.
  • Cultivates the involvement of company personnel to meet performance objectives and customer expectations.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned markets.
  • Leads joint company-strategic account planning efforts to develop mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-year period.
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops solutions that address customer needs, coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.

Accountabilities:

  • Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in assigned territories/market segments.
  • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits/presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Researches sources to determine potential customers and gather information about their potential.
  • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Resolves customer problems and complaints efficiently.
  • Cultivates sales efforts with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics, and technical service groups.
  • Analyzes territory/market potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customers to the organization.
  • Creates and manages customer value plans for existing customers, highlighting profile, share, and value opportunities.
  • Identifies advantages and compares competitors' products/services.
  • Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing Return on Time Investment for the territory/segment.
  • Provides management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Remains up-to-date on product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through literature reading and consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
  • Participates in trade shows and conventions.
  • Accurately forecasts weekly sales figures.
