Job Overview: The Medical Virtual Assistant / Intake Coordinator plays a crucial role in patient intake, administrative support, and healthcare coordination. This position ensures a seamless intake process while managing patient information, scheduling, and communication in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Intake Management: Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information
- Appointment Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments with healthcare providers
- Medical Record Handling: Ensure accurate data entry and management of patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Insurance Verification: Assist in checking coverage and eligibility for medical procedures
- Patient Communication: Handle inbound and outbound calls, responding to inquiries with professionalism and empathy
- Pre-Appointment Preparation: Gather necessary medical history and documentation before consultations
- Coordination with Healthcare Providers: Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and insurance representatives
- HIPAA Compliance: Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to healthcare privacy regulations
- Administrative Support: Assist with medical billing, claims processing, and other administrative duties as needed
- Experience in medical administrative support or patient intake coordination
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and healthcare scheduling software
- Background in medical billing and insurance verification is a plus
- Previous experience in a remote healthcare support role preferred
