Position SummaryThe Digital Media Buyer is responsible for working with the media team planners to execute digital paid media buys. This includes but is not limited to: having a working understanding of how media plans are put together, understanding client goals, negotiating and placing digital media buys, having insights into how the media is performing, making optimizations and recommendations, facilitating reporting and working with accounting on billing and reconciling invoices. The person must be organized, financial minded, process-driven, proficient in Excel, media math, be a problem solver and able to multitask.
JOB ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES- Meet with the media planners to understand the objectives, goals, target audiences and plans for assigned clients.
- Execute media placements, which includes negotiating the most efficient costs and added value.
- Review plans for accuracy and work with the media planner to keep the plans up-to-date with current information and rates.
- Review weekly and monthly reporting and recommend optimizations to the team that will improve the performance of the defined KPIs.
- Save all current media documents on the server with proper naming conventions to ensure the most recent file is available for the team. Maintains integrity of client media folders on server.
- Write RFPs for all mediums and send them to media reps. Answers all questions from reps regarding RFPs.
- Track client goals and budgets, and ensure target audiences are reached as efficiently as possible.
- Meet with the ad ops team to go over budget by audience to make sure ads are trafficked correctly.
- Measure and optimize ROI, ROAS, leads and any additional KPIs important to the client.
- Keep accurate pacing spreadsheets for all clients you are the media buyer for, ensuring planners and account managers are aware of any potential underspend.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reporting with actionable insights and prepare recommendations for meeting and exceeding client goals (includes evaluation of creative performance)
- Process invoices with the assistance of accounting and work with media vendors, account managers and accounting to resolve any questions and/or issues.
- Accurately implement any changes to the buy that come from the media planner or account manager.
- Ensure that all campaigns and orders meet budgets monthly and are in good standing with the accounting department.
- Reach out to media reps to get missing media invoices for your clients in a timely manner (if not automatically sent) so accounting can keep current records of client budgets.
- Maintain accurate and up to date knowledge of agency naming conventions for digital/paid social campaigns.
- Back up ad operations with media trafficking with knowledge of platforms and ad trafficking procedures.
- Help mentor media coordinators with projects when needed
- Advise our Public Relations department of potential editorial opportunities if applicable.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with media sales representatives of local, regional and national media of interest to our customers.
- Keep current with media kits and publications that are of interest to our client base.
- Meet with both traditional and digital media reps to be current on offerings and pricing.
- Track/maintain client media budgets and reconciliations throughout campaigns so you must be excellent at math, especially media math.
- Make suggestions to improve the overall performance of the media team.
- Prepare special projects and reports as directed by the position supervisor or executive leadership team members.
- Will be trained to assist with other departmental and company functions on an as-needed basis.
- Convey a professional and courteous attitude at all times toward clients, co-workers, and guests.
- Maintain a healthy attitude toward your job, make suggestions to improve the company's overall performance, and attend weekly company and departmental meetings.
- Uphold company reputation and brand standards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as stated in the Policy Manual.
- Must have 3+ years of in-platform agency media buying experience.
- 3+ Years Of vendor selection, buying and optimizing OTT, Video Pre-Roll, Digital Audio, Display & Native
- Must be excellent at math, especially media math.
- Proficiencies: Social Ad Platforms (Meta, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, Snapchat, Reddit), Microsoft Office Business Suite, Google Suite, Workamajig, Google Campaign Manager 360, Google Analytics, What A Graph
