Business Development Manager , Philippines – Manila

Location: Manila, Philippines. Employment type: Full-time. Seniority level: Mid-Senior level.

Main purpose of the position

Join our global team to drive growth in solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) development activities across the Philippines. Lead identification, development, and advancement of renewable energy projects from early opportunities through financial close and construction commencement.

You will analyze market dynamics, originate and structure complex transactions, negotiate agreements, and manage internal and external development processes. Success requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and strong leadership to guide projects to construction readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of and updates to the regional strategy
  • Lead market reviews, analyze regulatory issues and policy supports for utility-scale renewable energy projects, and develop regional business and project development strategies
  • Identify key markets, customers, and project opportunities for development
  • Develop a deep understanding of the regional power market
  • Identify and nurture relationships with local/regional developers, brokers, banks, contractors, suppliers, etc. to identify solar, wind, BESS, and other project opportunities
  • Identify, screen, evaluate and acquire new business and project opportunities
  • Negotiate with prospective partners and establish project development or acquisition agreements
  • Support or lead project development and structuring of secured projects under development
  • Support processes of project finance and execution preparations
  • Support local-set-up processes where required
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external project development efforts including securing land, permits, interconnection rights, PPAs, EPC and O&M agreements, and project financing
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, law or other relevant fields. MBA or Master’s degree in finance/law/policy is an advantage but not required
  • Experience: 5–10 years in renewable energy project development and/or investment, management consulting or investment banking, among others
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills
  • Experience originating, managing, and closing complex transactions, including deal structuring and project finance
  • Strong understanding of relevant power markets and regional renewable energy landscape; exposure to regulatory and environmental credit schemes is a plus
  • Working knowledge of power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, permitting, bidding, EPC terms and conditions is preferable but not required
  • Strong financial analysis and business fundamentals
  • Language: fluent in English (written and spoken)
