Job Description

A Team Lead – Collections is responsible for overseeing direct reports and ensuring timely recovery of outstanding invoices. The Lead uses various tools and maintains professional verbal and written communication with team members, across departments, and with external customers.

Responsibilities
  • Collections and aging management.
  • Weekly efforts to prevent 30+ day past-due accounts from reaching 45+ days by month end.
  • Lead portfolio-specific collection effectiveness, aiming to lead in results.
  • Regular communication with direct reports to address slow-pay accounts.
  • Escalation through formal processes when accounts cannot be recovered promptly.
  • LEAN certification practices (Gemba Walks, Root Cause Analysis, PDCA, A3 Thinking) to identify improvements.
  • Cross-department collaboration to improve processes and relationships.
  • Set and monitor expectations for team members; define daily/weekly workflows and targets.
  • Develop self-escalation skills and coach others; document all communications for direct and MSP collections.
  • Document up-to-date alerts, holds, terms, and data; stay informed on industry changes.
  • Communicate decisions clearly to leadership and document rationale where needed.
  • Maintain professional communications and respond within 24–48 hours where applicable.
  • Contribute to training, mentoring, and performance improvement efforts.

Qualifications
  • High school education required.
  • Strong financial decision-making and ability to present concise factual summaries.
  • Proficiency with Windows and MS Office; Excel skills helpful with basic formulas; typing speed ≥45 WPM.
  • Ability to work overtime and rotating shifts or US time zones; willing to work in Bridgetowne, QC (per posting).
  • Minimum 5 years of B2B collections experience preferred.
