Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth processing of financial transactions within the company. This role plays a key part in monitoring budgets, preparing financial reports, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
- Verify that transactions are recorded correctly in the general ledger.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and bank deposits.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts monthly.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Maintain petty cash records and handle reimbursements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and tax laws.
- Support external auditors by providing required documentation during audits.
- Handle payroll preparation and related tax filings (if applicable).
- Organize and maintain financial filing systems both physically and digitally.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
- 1 - 2+ years of bookkeeping or general accounting experience.
