Financial Controller Supervisor

Job Title: Financial Controller Supervisor (AU)

Work Setup & Schedule:

• Hybrid (6AM to 3PM)

What you'll be doing:

Budgets:

• Manage the Practice Partners to ensure that all divisional budgets and overall firm targets are met. Iron out any inefficiencies, suggest ways of increasing and improving productivity. Monitor and stay abreast to ensure alignment with forecast;
• Review expenses and salaries, monitor and stay abreast to ensure alignment with forecast;
• Develop and review of operating budget across all expenditure platforms;
• Manage the Partners to decrease debtor's position, decrease write-offs on WIP and fees billed. Set percentage, for example 5%;
• Manage to the Partners to ensure that Fee Earning staff are reaching their targets, weekly, monthly and quarterly and yearly.
• Accounts management – oversee day to day financial operations for each entity. Monitor and report to board as required;
• Financial Accounting – manage company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems, including BAS, ASIC and Banking requirements. Representing firm and point of contact with internet banking, cheques, trial balance reports, cashbook reports, reconciling and petty cash;
• Compliance - Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements;
• Controlled monies – maintain and oversee;
• External Accountants – Liaising with, and attending needs of, external accountants for the Firm;
• Insurances - maintain annual renewals of insurances for public liability, workers compensation, motor vehicle, contents, professional indemnity, business / cyber insurances;
• Payroll management – undertake and oversee (including Partner Remuneration Model and Bonuses;
• Trust management and audit reviews – maintaining trust ledgers, accounting journals and other records detailing financial transactions, coordinating annual audits and submitting necessary office and trust documentation to The Law Society of NSW and LawCover;
• Debtors – oversee daily management of collections;
• Accounts Payable & Receivable, monthly billing – oversee payments, paying invoices, overheads and review renewal of leases for third party providers (e.g. Fileman, Canon etc);
• Archiving – oversee management of file closures and Fileman;
• Out-sourcing or Off / Onshoring;
• Systems - maintain or assist with implementation of Practice Management, Payroll or Management Systems (e.g. Employment Hero) and Crypto Payments.

Human Resources for Finance Team

• Manage the development of position descriptions, advertisements and interviews as required;
• Manage the induction and onboarding processes for new staff;
• Maintain the HR administration files for payroll purposes;
• Assist in the learning and development activities for team;
• Manage the annual performance appraisal process for team;
• Review, development and manage the remuneration and benefits of the firm;
• Attend, monitor and drive the firm's centres of excellence - Invoicing, Debtors & Trust Monies.

General Management

• Supervise and manage Finance and Facilities team (including reception services);
• Maintain focus and accountability of agreed strategies and initiatives;
• Point of contact for all financial aspects; and
• Implement systems and process improvements and drive the centralise accounts initiative.

QMS Management – In conjunction with the GM and HR Team:

• Manage the Annual QMS cycle.
• Ensure that all internal audits are completed within the specified timeframes to ensure compliance with the current standards.
• Manage and action all non-conformances.
• Management of the reaccreditation audit process.

Reporting

• Daily - Debtor activity reports and ad hoc as required
• Weekly - Weekly practice hygiene report, cashflow report and general operational report.

What will make you a great fit:

• Must have University Degree in Finance and Accounting, with a CA / CPA qualification.
• 5-10 years' experience as a Finance Controller in a professional corporate environment (legal practice preferred), with thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, financial modelling and tailing requirements specific for the organization's needs.
• Management of Finance Teams and ability to liaise with senior stakeholders and managers.
• High level of written and oral communication skills
